Getting Started
I work with students of all ages, from toddlers as young as 2 years old to adults. Each age group has unique learning needs, and I adapt my teaching approach accordingly. For very young children, lessons focus on water comfort and basic safety skills. Older children and adults can progress through technique development and stroke mastery.
I'm a former Division I swimmer at Princeton University and 2016 Olympic Trials qualifier. I hold current Water Safety Instructor (WSI), CPR, and First Aid certifications. My competitive background gives me technical expertise that I apply to every lesson, whether you're learning to float or training for competition.
I teach at selected pools in Monmouth County, but I also offer the option to come to you if you have access to a private facility. All locations where I have established teaching arrangements are safe, well-maintained facilities. I handle all facility coordination so you just show up ready to swim.
Absolutely! The ages listed in the program offerings are suggestions for those who don't know where to start, not requirements. My approach focuses on building confidence and proper technique, not age-based expectations. We'll start exactly where your child is and progress at a pace that works for them.
Yes! I focus on efficiency, breathing patterns, open water strategies, and building the endurance you need for race day. We'll work on reducing drag, improving your stroke rate, and developing the mental confidence for open water swimming.
Policies, Safety & Logistics
Safety is foundational to everything I teach. I maintain current CPR and First Aid certifications, I'm trained in water safety and rescue techniques, and I follow strict supervision protocols. For children, I teach water safety skills alongside stroke development, including how to safely enter and exit pools, what to do if they fall in, and appropriate behavior around water. I also carefully assess each student's abilities and never push beyond safe boundaries.
Yes. I offer several multi-lesson packages that provide better value than single sessions. I highly encourage booking multiple sessions for younger children as it takes time for them to build trust with me and consistency produces the best results. View all pricing options on the Programs & Pricing page.
I require 24 hours notice for cancellations or rescheduling. Lessons cancelled with less than 24 hours notice will receive a 50% refund on the cost of the lesson. Emergency situations (sudden illness, family emergency) are handled with flexibility on a case-by-case basis.
While I focus on providing individualized 1-on-1 instruction customized to each swimmer's specific needs, I'm happy to discuss personalized rates for families with multiple swimmers. Please contact me directly to discuss your family's needs and we can work out an arrangement that makes sense for everyone. I can also coordinate back-to-back lesson times to minimize your travel.
